Magistrate Soh Kian Peng:

1. SSP 977 of 2025 (“SSP 977”) was the Mother’s application. The Mother had previously obtained a Personal Protection Order (“PPO”) against the Son. That order was granted by consent on 13 December 2021. In SSP 977, the Mother sought further orders in addition to the PPO She sought, in her application, a Domestic Exclusion Order (“DEO”) for the entire house, a No Contact Order (“NCO”) and a Mandatory Treatment Order (“MTO”).

2. The statutory framework provides that such further orders will only be made if the court is satisfied, on a balance of probabilities, that they are necessary for the protection or personal safety of the Mother: see s 60B and 60F of the Women’s Charter 1961 (the “Charter”).

3. In the present case, I was satisfied that it was necessary for the Mother’s protection or personal safety that such further orders be made. For one, the Son admitted that he had a volatile temper, and that he would lose control if his boundaries were crossed. Further, it was also evident that since the PPO was granted, there were further incidents between the Mother and the Son. In those incidents, the Son had hurled vulgarities...
